FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - February 14, 2004

New Silver Lake Lodge Construction to start.

Friday February 11. 2005 is the tentative start date for the construction of the new dining hall to replace the one that burnt down in November 2003. "It's been a long time in coming," says Wayne Lintott the Chairman of the Board. "We finally get to move forward," he says about the new building.

In November 2003 the old building was totally destroyed by a fire leaving the camp to scramble to supply facilities for its renters through the 2004 season. They were able to provide Atco rental trailers for the School and Summer Camps to use.

After long discussions with the insurance companies, they have finally been able to start the planning process and begin construction. The general contractor, Roth Homes from Winfield has been very instrumental in the design of the new facility. Roth Homes has been in the construction business for several years. They have been building structures at Big White Ski Resort and some of the design of the new Silver Lake Lodge will resemble structures at Big White.

"It was a devastating loss but we are now able to build something we never could have even dreamed of before," says Lintott. The new lodge will offer what the old lodge offered and much more. The new building will be totally wheel chair accessible on both floors by and elevator. A new kitchen will provide cooking for up to 200 people at a time. Three smaller classrooms can be used as well as a large fireplace and a room that will be set up for nature studies like our Pond Study Program. "We have a Buy a Brick Fund Raising Program in place to raise additional funds to support the improvements in the lodge" comments Lintott.

The new Silver Lake Lodge construction is planed to take up to 6 months with the building available for rentals in late July or August 2005. "We are hoping we can be in it sooner but we will be happy all the same when we can open the doors and begin using it" says Lintott.

Once completed the new Silver Lake Lodge will be available to rent by the public, as is all the facilities at Silver Lake Camp. Checkout our new web site at http://www.silverlakekidscamp.com for more information about the camp and what it has to offer
